After signing with the UFC this past summer, the Moroccan superstar Abu Azaitar is yet to make his walk to the octagon.

He was scheduled to take on Siyar Bahadurzada at UFC Rotterdam in September but was forced to pull out due to injury.

Now feeling 100 percent, Azaitar is targeting a return to the cage in early 2018.

“Everything is ok now,” Azaitar said. “I tried to get a fight in the New Year, January or something. When God writes something, it’s going to come like that.”

Azaitar was in Bahrain this past weekend cornering his little brother Ottman at the Brave Combat Federation 9 show. Ottman went on to win the lightweight title in a TKO stoppage over Alejandro Martinez in the third round.

The Azaitar family is widely popular both in Morocco and Europe. A fighting family, Azaitar will look to put Morocco on the map when he steps into the biggest MMA stage, the UFC.

He is willing to take on any middleweight on the roster but prefers to fight in Europe. Azaitar used to live and train in Germany and would like nothing more than to fight close to home.

“Everyone is welcome. I’m training, I’m always ready. January or February would be very good. Maybe London, we’re going to see where the next event is going to be in Europe”

Currently residing in Dubai, Azaitar is unsure where he will be spending the majority of his training but is happy to have many options available for his preparation.

“I moved now to Dubai and I’m training there now. I love Dubai, I love the people there. I train at our gym but maybe I do my training camp in Holland or I do my training camp in Thailand, I don’t know.”

Stay tuned for a fight announcement regarding Azaitar in the coming months.
