Tanzanian Premier League defending Champions, Young Africans were drawn at home to Singida United in an Federation Cup quarter-final draw on Friday morning.
Geore Lwandamina’s men sealed their place in the last eight with a 2-1 win at Majimaji thanks to goals from Pius Buswita and Papy Tshishimbi.
Newly promoted Singida United booked their place after dispatching Tanzania Police team last weekend.
Young Africans and Singida United three encounters this seasons have all ended in draws, showing that there’s been little to separate the two clubs.
The ambitious Singida based side coached by immediate former Young Africans coach, Hans Van Der Pluijm are banking their hopes on a good run in Federation Cup as they attempt to grab a continental ticket to represent Mainland Tanzania in the CAF Confederation Cup next year.
The Federation Cup winner represents Tanzania in the CAF Confederation Cup. Holders Simba were dethroned in the second round by lowly Green Warriors who are in the third tier of Tanzanian football pyramid.
On the other hand, Azam who play Singida United in a league match this weekend, will host Mtibwa Sugar, while Njombe Mji visit Stand United.
Three of the pairings will involve an all-premier league battle with the exception being JKT Tanzania playing visitors to Prisons in an all-army affair. JKT Tanzania were relegated to the First Division League last season but have managed to bounce back alongside African Lyon.
The quarter-final ties will be played over the weekend of March 30- April 1.
Here’s the full draw
Singida United v Yanga
Prisons v JKT Tanzania
