Umbro announced an agreement which will see the brand as the official sponsor for the Iraq Football Association for the next two years. The partnership between Umbro and the Iraq Football Association starts on 22nd October 2020 with the sportswear brand providing match kit, training kit and off field wear for a number of the teams under the Association for the next two years.
The Iraq Football Association is the governing body of football in Iraq and the deal will see Umbro sponsoring a number of teams under the association including; the Iraq National team, the Under 23, 20 and 17 teams, as well as Futsal and Iraq women’s National Team. Additionally, Umbro will be the official kit and ball sponsor of the Iraq Premier League, Iraq League Division one and Iraqi League referees. The deal demonstrates Umbro’s ongoing commitment to supporting football and connecting with fans across the region.
Umbro has previously sponsored the Iraq National team in the 1986 World Cup qualifiers as well as the 2007 Asian cup showing the long history the brand has in designing sports products and kits for the region. Football is seeing more growth every year and as the sport continues to reach more fans and Umbro is excited to be part of this growth of the sport in the region and beyond.
Mr Ayad Bonyan the president of the Association said about the partnership; “We are happy to have our national teams wearing the Umbro brand again. We have had great successes and victories with Umbro during the 80’s as well as during the 2007 Asian cup. Umbro is one of the largest football brands in history, and we are looking forward to achieve successes together again”
