Spanish giants Real Madrid have announced the launch of a virtual reality app, the move which makes it the first professional sports club around the world to introduce VR-powered multi-device application for their fans.
The app, which is available for free to download on iOS and Android devices, will connect fans in real time, granting them the ability to communicate with each other in a virtual version of the club’s historic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Fans will be able to digitally walk through the stadium, see the trophy cabinets, learn about the history of the club, view the trophies in 3D and access thousands of unpublished pieces of content.
Real Madrid has said that the app will also enable the creation of a totally customised avatar of the club that will enable the users to experience the tour, interacting with other avatars from across the world via the multilingual chat function in real time. Fans will be able to write in their chosen language, with the recipient receiving messages in the language of their choice. These are huge strides towards global fan connectivity and engagement, and further explore the potential for VR to create social environments.
Users can interact in real time and share their experiences at any time through their social networks. The application is connected to the existing Real Madrid app.
Real Madrid Virtual World app has been developed by Astosch Technology in collaboration with Microsoft, which is one of the commercial partners of the club.
