Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) have today unveiled a new initiative, Sport in Abu Dhabi, which will promote the UAE’s capital across all forms of sports tourism.

Showcasing Abu Dhabi as a global capital of sport for teams, federations, governing bodies, athletes and enthusiasts, Sport in Abu Dhabi aims to encourage more visitors to train, watch and compete in the Emirate.

Abu Dhabi is already established on the global sports stage with many leading professional and amateur sporting events, as well as world-class facilities. This new initiative, created by ADSC in partnership with TCA Abu Dhabi, will ensure Abu Dhabi competes strongly on the global sports tourism stage.

His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary, Abu Dhabi Sports Council commented “Sport in Abu Dhabi will allow us to welcome more athletes and spectators from around the world to train, compete and watch sport here in Abu Dhabi. Through this partnership with our colleagues at the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, we are inviting the world to come to Abu Dhabi and watch, train and compete in our sports portfolio and in our world-class facilities. It’s a team effort – we’re inviting all our tourism and sports stakeholders to partner with us and drive its success, and I’d like to thank all the partners who have confirmed their support to date.”

In addition to the two Founding partners, the following stakeholders were all confirmed as partners of Sport in Abu Dhabi: Flash Entertainment , Rotana Group, Abu Dhabi Cricket Club, Abu Dhabi Golf Club, Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club and Sporta  Tours.

“We will be promoting Sport in Abu Dhabi at all our events and will deliver a comprehensive outreach program via dedicated social media and digital campaigns.”, continued Al Awani.

Mubarak Al Nuaimi, Director of Promotions, Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority commented: “As shown by the recent winter training sessions of Manchester City Football Club at Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi has excellent training facilities for professional teams and athletes. We have world-class sporting events from Formula 1 Grand Prix to football, golf to cycling, wakeboarding to Jiu Jitsu, all hosted in world-class venues including Yas Island, Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium and Zayed Sports City. We will showcase Sport in Abu Dhabi, alongside our other major initiatives, at tourism conferences worldwide, via our marketing channels and through our 11 international offices, which regularly speak to 1,600 tour operators globally. Our core goal with Sport in Abu Dhabi is to increase visitor numbers and the length-of-stay for our guests here.”

The first tourism conference where Sport in Abu Dhabi and their partners will be showcased is the Arabian Travel Market at the Dubai Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 24-27. The first new event to be announced by Sport in Abu Dhabi is the Abu Dhabi International Schools Arch Trophy, to be held at Zayed Cricket Stadium from 1-6 March 2018. This prestigious event will see 24 international school teams from 12 countries compete over 6 days of 40-over cricket at Zayed Cricket Stadium.
