Al-Ain Edge Past Al Dhafra With A 2-1 Win

Al Ain moved temporarily to the top of the Arabian Gulf League table with a 2-1 win over Al Dhafra at Hamdan bin Zayed Stadium in matchweek 11.

After a goalless first half, the match exploded into life with three goals in the second period. Mohamed Abdulrahman handed the visitors the lead five minutes after the restart, driving home Ibrahim Diaky’s layoff.

Diaky turned from creator to scorer after exchanging passes with Markus Berg and firing low into the bottom corner at the hour-mark to double Al Ain’s lead.

Al Dhafra attempted to get back into the game in the final half an hour and finally succeeded in halving the deficit through substitute Saeed Al Katheeri. Al Ain held on to their lead and saw a out the game.

Al Ain raises their tally to 25 points, three ahead of Al Wasl who face Shabab Al Ahli later tonight. Al Dhafra, meanwhile, remains tenth in the table with eight points, hovering one point above bottom side Emirates.
