Some of the best jiu-jitsu players from across the globe are descending in Rio to battle it out at the third leg of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour, which is set to take place in Rio De Janeiro on 10, 11 and 12 November at the Carioca Arena.

Abu Dhabi Grand SlamRio De Janeiro will be broadcasted live on Abu Dhabi Sports in the UAE & MENA region, Combate and SporTV in Brazil, FloGrappling worldwide stream, FOX Sports in Asia, Fight Network in Canada, Europe and MENA regions, Astro in Malaysia, Starhub in Singapore, ABS-CBN Sports in Philippines, Orange TV in Indonesia, SCTV in Vietnam, Singtel in Singapore and Australia, Super Sport and Azam Sports in Africa, Fight Sports in the Caribbean, North America and Europe regions and on delayed telecast on Dubai Sports and Sharjah Sports.
Lucas Barbosa, Black belt world champion, who is competing in the 94kg category, said, “I have trained a lot for this tournament. I don’t believe it’s going to be an easy one, especially because it’s in Brazil. There are a lot of tough competitors. But I’m looking forward to putting my best foot forward, winning another grand slam and increasing my points to be number one”

The tournament is open to all nationalities, the medalists will be listed in the jiu-jitsu world rankings and cash prizes of more than $125,000 will be awarded to the top athletes of each division. The top three academies will also receive cash prizes and top ranked competitors will receive prizes at the end of the season according to the UAEJJF World Ranking.
The first-place winner in the respective weight categories of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam will receive 200 points. The second-place winner will receive 160 points and the third-place winner will receive 120 points.
