Yash Thakur’s Five-Wicket Haul Propels Lucknow Super Giants to Victory Over Gujarat Titans

Indian seam bowler Yash Thakur showcased his talent with a remarkable five-wicket haul, marking the first of this year’s Indian Premier League, as Lucknow Super Giants secured a convincing 33-run win against the Gujarat Titans.

Thakur’s exceptional performance, claiming figures of 5-30, played a pivotal role as Lucknow successfully bowled out Gujarat in the 21st match of the 2024 season.

Despite not having represented his country at the international level yet, the 25-year-old cricketer delivered crucial breakthroughs, including two key wickets in the 19th over, securing Lucknow’s third victory from four games this season.

Contributing to Lucknow’s total of 163-5, Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis played a significant innings, scoring 58 runs to steer his team towards a competitive score.

In another match earlier on Sunday, Romario Shepherd’s explosive batting display in the final over propelled the Mumbai Indians to their maiden win of the season, defeating the Delhi Capitals by 29 runs.

Shepherd, from the West Indies, blazed 32 runs off just 10 balls in the 20th over, forming an unbeaten partnership of 53 runs with Tim David (45), as Mumbai Indians posted a formidable total of 234-5.

The bowling efforts were led by Gerald Coetzee, who claimed 4-34, effectively restricting Delhi Capitals to 205-8 despite their strong batting lineup.
