The objective of this festival was to encourage all family members from all community segments to engage in sport activities during the summer vacation.
The 54-day festival was kicked off on July 9, and finished on 31st August 2017.
The festival will be held under the slogan “Stay Active, Stay Healthy”, and covered 15 different indoor games and activities.
Games and activities are suitable for all segments of the community, and will include: football, basketball, badminton, volleyball, mini- tennis, table tennis, running track, cross fit, gym, acroball, Jungle land bungee trampoline, gyroscope, and skating park for kids/teens, with yoga and cross fit for ladies.
The opening day (July 9) witnessed the launch of “Kids’ Summer Camp”. This camp was held under the supervision of specialized coaches and supervisors. It is designed for kids of 6-12-year-old categories. It will include: touch rugby, jungle land, and skating park, rope skating and battle land.
Commenting on the launch of the festival, HE ArefHamad Al Awani, ADSC General Secretary said: “The unwavering support of HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan- Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, is paving our way to introduce new initiatives that will encourage all segments of the community and family members in Abu Dhabi emirate to engage in various and suitable sporting activities that will help them all to stay active, and to lead healthy lifestyle.”
Al Awani affirmed that the festival is meant to be held during the summer and school vacation to allow proper and suitable environment for all targeted community segments and students to fill their leisure time very usefully.
On his part, HumaidMatar Al Dhaheri, CEO of ADNEC, said they are really very happy to host Abu Dhabi Sports Festival for the second successive time.
“The second edition of this festival will witness a 10% increase in the allocated activation areas,” Al Dhaheri said. “We will always be very happy to cooperate with ADSC and with all strategic partners in order to produce and to provide useful initiatives and opportunities that will serve, meet and fulfill sporting and entertainment needs and requirements of all community segments in Abu Dhabi,” Al Dhaheri concluded.
