Dubai Sports Council’s Board convened its 22nd meeting last month, chaired by H.E. Mater Al-Tayer, the Deputy Chairman of DSC. DSC’s Board confirmed that the Emirate of Dubai is keen to host top sports events and add further events to its expanding annual sports agenda, thanks to the proper directives & generous support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai & Chairman of DSC.
It is according to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed’s directives; DSC has supported the hosting of the Skydiving & Water Skiing Championship, scheduled to take place in UAE from 25th Nov. to 1stDec. 2017, with participation of 300 skydivers, representing 25 States. DSC’s Board appreciated the remarkable success of the 5th NAS Sports Tournament, organized by DSC from 28th May to 16th June 2017, referring to the increase of the Tournament’s sports competitions, number of participants & values of financial rewards.
H.E. Mater Al-Tayer praised results of the recent meeting between DSC and Presidents of Clubs & Football Companies, during which review & ratification were made for several eminent matters; among which are: the cancelation of the evacuation procedures for professional players from Dubai clubs as of the sports season 2018 – 2019 / ratified organizational structure / means to promote the investment sector in clubs.
The meeting dealt with the collaboration between DSC & Dubai clubs’ presidents to attain the promising development in the sports sector / implement initiatives, programs & regulations, fixed by DSC to boost the level of sports work and apply governance / motivate clubs to enhance resources & join successful investments.
The meeting reviewed the plans of development works at Al-Maktoum Stadium in Al-Nasr Club and Rashid Stadium in Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai Club, where Dubai’s two groups in the AFC Asian Cup 2019 are scheduled to be hosted, confirming that the development works to be completed as per the approved schedule & top applicable standards and in collaboration with Dubai Municipality, respective clubs & the Organizing Committee of the Championship.
DSC’s Board looked into the report of the Investment & Projects Committee of DSC, comprising a presentation on the accomplished projects and plans to complete ratified projects in addition to respective recommendations.
The meeting discussed explanatory presentations, provided by companies and houses of experiences, which are involved in the execution and development of projects. DSC’s Board reviewed reports of permanent committees and initiatives teams.
In this regard, review was made for the report of the Woman & Sports Committee besides respective plans to increase the number of ladies, who exercise sports activities, and organize sports events during the upcoming period.
The meeting dealt with the report of the Sports Development Committee, including the Committee’s program for the upcoming period and latest preparations to organize the 12th Dubai International Sports Conference next Dec. DSC’s Board reviewed clubs’ reports & correspondences and adopted convenient decisions with respect to the same.
The Board confirmed ideal preparations of clubs for the upcoming sports season to attain sports excellence and to encourage the investment sector in each club to utilize the club’s resources & facilities.
DSC’s Board reviewed cooperation correspondences between DSC and local, regional & international sports entities besides foundation of premises for these entities in Dubai.
The meeting also discussed the hosting of Dubai for international meetings & conferences, based on the distinctive sports and tourist facilities of the city.
